Types Of Computer
There are three types of computer i.e. micro computers , mainframe computers and mini computers.
Micro Computers:
Micro computers are usually found in homes, schools , colleges etc. Its a small computer that contains micro processor. It is designed to be used by individuals.
Mini Computers:
A mini computer is a midsize computer. It have storage capabilities larger than those of micro computers and smaller than those mainframe computer. It is capable of supporting 4 to 200 users simultaneously.
Mainframe Computers:
Mainframe is a Large computer capable of supporting hundreds or even thousands of users simultaneously. Mainframes are designed to handle very high volume input and output. It can support large numbers of terminals. It is usually use in Banks, Large insurance Company, The utility companies(i.e. Gas, Electricity, Water) etc.
PDAs:
PDAs is a handheld device which is use to organise a busy schedule. It can prepare , edit and send faxes. it can do calculations too. It is use by a stylus rather than a keyboard. it is smaller than PCs and bigger than a large calculator.
Palmtop:
A small computer that fits in your palm. As Compared to full-size computers, palmtops are limited in functions. palmtops are also called PDAs and pocket computers.
PDET:
Portable Data Entry Terminal are used to capture data away from main computer systems.
Peripheral Devices:
Devices which are outside the CPU but under its Control e.g. Keyboard, Printer etc.
Micro Processors:
An integrated circuit that contains all the functions of Central Processing Unit in a computer. It use to control devices such as washing machines, ovens video recorders etc.
Embedded Computers:
Embedded Computers contorls the devices into which they are embedded e.g. Mobile Phones , Toasters , Aircrafts etc.
Concept Keyboards:
It is less tiring in use and can achieve high speeds. Concept keyboards are different from traditional keyboards.
Braile Keyboards:
It is for blind users.
Tracker Ball:
Tracker ball is used instead of mouse. Tracker ball is rotate by the user but the in this case ball stays still.
